REHABILITATION AFTER KNEE ENDOPROSTHESIS (alloplasty)

The course of rehabilitation after endoprosthesis may vary, which results from the type of prosthesis used, but also from the patient's general health condition and coexisting diseases. The choice of methods and the time as well as the intensity should be individualised in each case.

Objectives of postoperative rehabilitation:

● Anti-oedema and anti-coagulant measures;

●Achievement of full ranges of mobility in the knee joint (especially extension);

●Strengthening of the muscles in the lower limb and body;

● Restoration of muscle balance within the groups affecting the function of the knee joint;

● Re-education of the correct gait pattern;

● Learning to walk on crutches, both on flat surfaces and on stairs.
